Hi there, my name is Sharon Picone and I am COMMITTED to helping you cut through all the confusion and hype when searching for a new mattress.
Growing up in South Africa, I was a ballet dancer for 16 years. Being a dancer has many advantages (such as teaches discipline and proper posture), but it also has disadvantages.
Due to the continual stress placed on joints and muscles during training, dancers typically develop issues in these areas of their bodies, even years later. This fact has been my experience.
I stopped dancing more than 30 years ago, but as I’ve aged, my body has changed and I realized that I simply cannot take my health for granted.
So what does this have to do with mattresses, you may ask?
Well, I’ll tell you. It’s vital to take care of yourself, and part of a successful health routine is to get enough sleep and to ensure that your mattress provides your body with the required support.
In 2016, after a year of waking up with aches and pains every morning, I realized that it was time to bid adieu to my 16-year-old mattress. Now, I know what you’re thinking, “Sharon, why in heaven’s name did you wait so long to replace your old mattress?”
Truth is, I’ve asked myself that question many times. I believe it’s because it’s human nature for us at times, to hold onto certain possessions in our lives, even when they cause us pain and don’t serve us.
My only regret is that I didn’t dispose of my old mattress sooner.
Add to this fact that from 2013 to mid-2016 (around the time I replaced my old mattress), I was also an insomniac. This was due to a combination of circumstances: The sudden passing of my father in
January 2013: A loss that I have felt most profoundly and that I can honestly state has forever changed me. The second reason, I strongly believe, I can attribute to my defunct mattress.
It is during my research and quest to find a new mattress that I realized how totally overwhelming the whole process is and I thought, “If I’m experiencing this type of overwhelm, I bet that there are so many more people who are too.”
It was in that moment that I decided to make it my mission to not only promote the importance of adequate sleep for better health and longevity, but also help you by making the process of purchasing a mattress much easier and quicker AND within a price point that is comfortable and achievable for you.
Since I’ve started sleeping on a new mattress, my quality of sleep has improved by leaps and bounds and some mornings it’s quite tempting to continue lying in bed. To be honest, the warm sandpaper kisses
I receive on my cheeks from my cat every morning helps too :)
